Akef El-Maghraby opened an eye hospital in Jeddah, which at the time was the first private specialized medical facility in the whole of the Middle East and North Africa. He expanded the network of Maghraby Hospitals & Centers to include ENT and dental practices, taking the total number of locations to 23, and making it the largest medical care network in the Middle East today. Of Egpytian origin, Akef El-Maghraby is married to a Lebanese Nada Samadi and spends his time shuttling between Jeddah, Riyadh, Cairo and London. His work includes a strong humanitarian philosophy and he has initiated mobile medical care programs to treat the poor. Eight of the 23 hospitals and medical centers in the Maghraby network work on a charitable basis. The interview with Ricardo Karam took place in Cairo, Egypt.
