Randa Habib 26/05/2006

A graduate in political studies from the Saint Joseph University Beirut, this young daughter of a former Lebanese ambassador serving in Yugoslavia, Greece, Venezuela, Brazil and Iraq, joined up with the Amman bureau of the Agence France-Presse, a platform she used to conduct over twenty interviews with the late King Hussein on the major issues affecting Jordan. Habib extensively covered Iraq following the 1990 invasion of Kuwait including the 1991 March-April Civil War. Surviving an attack by an armed group in the southern Iraqi city of Basra and overcoming injuries to the skull, she returned to conduct the first of many interviews with King Abdullah II, just three weeks after his coronation. Habib has also since 1988 been a correspondent for the Middle East desk of Radio Monte Carlo. The interview with Ricardo Karam took place in Beirut, Lebanon.
