A lecturer at prestigious institutions worldwide, a staunch supporter of diplomacy, Dr. Mitri believes in fostering mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation between cultures and religions. Concentrating his area of interest on the history and sociology of Christian-Muslim relations and the modern history and sociology of Christianity in the Arab and Moslem world, Mitri has published works in Arabic French and English. Coordinator of Inter Religious Relations and Dialogue at the World Council of Churches, Geneva, and Program Secretary for Christian-Muslim dialogue, Mitri has also held government posts as Minister of Environment and Minister of Culture. As acting Foreign Minister over the 34 day Summer 2006 War Mitri effectively represented Lebanon at the UN in New York during the conflict.
