A renowned lawyer, diplomat, academic, author and journalist: this is Professor Clovis Maksoud. He is a graduate of George Washington University. He started his career as lawyer and senior editor of Al-Ahram and chief editor of Annahar newspapers. As a leading Arab public intellectual figure, he played a big role in founding the Centre for Contemporary Arab Studies in 1975.The world of diplomacy attracted him; thus, he served as the league of Arab States' Chief Representative to the U.S and U.N from 1979 until 1990. In 1991, he founded the Centre for Global South at American University in Washington, D.C. where he still serves as Director of the centre and professor of International Law. Dr. Maksoud is an author of several articles and books on Middle East and Global South. His achievements enriched the Arab world with gleaming accomplishments which gave the Arab nation a lot and contributed in bridging the gap between East and West.
