Growing up in the family textile business, Asseily had risen to the top of his game by 1975. As chairman of the industrialists, on the board of the Chamber of Commerce, running textile factories and pioneering new business, suddenly all was lost in the war. In a change of career, the finance company Schroder Asseily was established to represent private banking interests throughout the Middle East. Though living in London since the 1980’s, Asseily kept Lebanon alive in the minds of many by setting up the Lebanese British Association, a Lebanon section at the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Lebanese Studies in Oxford.
The interview with Ricardo Karam took place in London, England.
