Ricardo Karam headed to Oxford to attend the life celebration of one of the most influential figures in the Middle East, the iconic Nemir Kirdar. Iraqi banker, businessman, financier, author, economic and cultural bridge-builder, he founded Investcorp, a global alternative investment group that operates in Manama, New York, London, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha and Singapore. Known to be the father of private equity, Nemir died on June 8 of the year 2020 at his home in Antibes . He was 83.The memorial was held at the Investcorp building at Oxford University, a building created by Zaha Hadid and named after the alternative investment firm donated £11 million for the project. The building spans two Victorian buildings on Woodstock Road in the grounds of the college.
